The Great Patriotic War. At night, in an occupied city near the front line, a Soviet plane shot down by the enemy crashes. The wounded pilots are saved by local residents, but soon a group of fascists follows the downed plane. At the center of the story is the heroic act of a young Russian girl, Varya, who hides the wounded pilots in the attic of her house. The Germans find the hiding place, but thanks to Varya's bravery, the soldiers manage to reach their comrades. Shortly thereafter, the Red Army liberates the city, and the Germans flee in panic. One of the surviving soldiers finds the wounded girl, who had not surrendered to the Germans, in the ruins of the house where she had previously hidden.
